A community hub for students, faculty and staff
Queen’s Law students spend most of their time at 128 Union Street – almost all law classes are held in the law building. But the law school building is much more than classrooms. It features meeting and study spaces reserved for law students, leading-edge classroom technology, faculty offices and other amenities. You can visit the building through our virtual tour, or walk through starting at the atrium using Google Business View.
The Learning Commons: With space for over 100 students and a half-dozen meeting and breakout rooms, our Learning Commons is reserved for the use of Queen’s Law students. It combines conventional study tables and carrels with lounge-style areas, medium and large meeting rooms, and a dedicated zone for our graduate students.
Student Lounge: A kitchen, fireplace, and even foosball table make this the natural hub for student life at Queen’s Law. Perfect for events, casual meetings and group work, it’s a beehive of activity from morning to night – the beating heart of the law school building.
The Atrium: The first thing you see when arriving at Queen’s Law; a spectacular, full-building glass atrium, featuring the work of Indigenous artist Hannah Claus to commemorate our location on traditional Haudenosaunee and Anishinabe territory, as well as a giving wall that recognizes the generosity of our alumni and other supporters.
Classrooms: Our classrooms feature a range of technology, from Skype-capable computers, screens and projectors in most of our classes through to the state-of-the-art Moot Courtroom, with a specialized timing system, session capture cameras and more.
Lederman Library: Part of the Queen’s nationally recognized library network, and a dedicated law library, the Lederman Library is accessed through our second floor, and includes two floors of books, study space, and meeting rooms – including the offices of our own Queen’s Law Journal. Visit our Libraries website to Learn More.
Faculty offices: Students are never more than a few feet from our faculty: faculty offices are located on the top floor of the law building and in adjoining corridors. The Dean, senior administrators and full-time faculty all share the same building and space with the students, fostering our legendary sense of community.
Accessibility: The law school building is fully accessible, with elevator access to each floor, automatic doors, and accessibility-enabled washrooms.
Queen's Law Clinics: In downtown Kingston, our Law Clinics are also housed in state-of-the-art accessible facilities.
