Program Structure
The Juris Doctor/Master of Industrial Relations (JD/MIR) is a three-and-a-half-year combined degree program that merges graduate training in human resources management and labour policy with a professional degree in law.
A limited number of may be admitted to this combined program. Applications must be made for JD admission through OLSAS and concurrently for admission to the graduate degree through the School of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs. An option to complete the combined degree programs in three years is available to students who are selected for and complete successfully an International Law Program at the Bader College in the spring term of the first year of the combined program. Students will be assisted by the Career Development Office to seek summering positions and students will pursue the licensing process and articling after graduation.
Admission to JD/MIR
Concurrent applications for admission must be made to the Faculty of Law through OLSAS and to Queen's School of Graduate Studies and Postdoctoral Affairs for admission as a graduate student in the first year in the combined program.
- Competitive JD/MIR applicants must have completed a four-year honours undergraduate degree and achieved an A- average or 3.7 GPA in the last two years.
- LSAT score ≥ 160 (80th percentile).
Upper year Admission into the JD/MIR
Current Queen’s Law JD students can apply for admission into the Combined JD/MIR program after their first or second year of studies. Students will be selected based on their performance in undergraduate studies and their performance to date in the JD program.
