At the Law Convocation on June 5, Professor Emeritus David Mullan, LLM’73, will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Laws degree, the University Senate’s highest honour. The award, for those with exemplary careers, recognizes his outstanding contribution to the administrative law field, to the betterment of society and to Queen’s University.
Mullan is best known as a researcher, writer, and for many decades now, Canada’s foremost expert in the area of administrative law. In his 30-plus years at Queen’s Law before retiring in 2004, he taught a range of private and public law courses and became a treasured member of the faculty. He has consulted on a number of law reform projects, been a member of the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal and The Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, and serves as a panelist for NAFTA. Previously, he received honorary degrees from the Victoria University of Wellington and the Law Society of Upper Canada.
