Queen’s Law is now actively promoting the work of its scholars and demonstrating its research excellence to the entire world. On March 12, the Queen's University Faculty of Law Legal Studies Research Paper Series was introduced on the Social Science Research Network (SSRN), a huge literature repository through which leading scholars from across the globe share their published and draft articles.

“Our SSRN series is going to be a terrific promotional vehicle for the Faculty,” says Michael Pratt, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research. “It’s a showcase for our scholarly talent – a way of bringing it all together under the Queen’s Law banner and making it accessible to scholars everywhere.”

Over the coming weeks, more papers will be added to the two dozen articles by 14 faculty members that launched the series. While many American law schools have an SSRN paper series, Queen’s is only the third Canadian law school to host one on the network. “That fact speaks volumes about the emphasis our Faculty places on research excellence,” says Pratt.

Moreover, the SSRN paper series will enhance the research stature of Queen’s Law nationally and internationally. “It will put us on the radar of some universities and some scholars who may otherwise not have known much about our research strengths,” Pratt says. “This will be useful for our individual faculty members in developing their own research and their academic networks. And it will also help Queen’s Law in recruiting high-calibre faculty candidates.”
