Dear colleagues, 
 
I am pleased to announce the arrival of Miranda Pugh to the newly appointed position of Executive Director of Development. Miranda will lead the Faculty’s alumni and development team, working closely with Paul Marcus, Development Counsel, and Zabrina Testa, Development Officer, and Viki Andrevska, Alumni Relations and Development Coordinator. 
 
As you know, funding our growth and ambitions is a core priority under our 2021-2026 Strategic Framework. To build on our fundraising successes and to further diversify our sources of revenue, we are expanding the depth and reach of our alumni and development team with the creation of the Executive Director role. 
 
Miranda will report to the Associate Vice-Principal of Development as well as my office, and provide strategic, high-level expertise and oversight of our fundraising strategies to maximize long-term financial support for the Faculty’s fundraising objectives, and strengthen our position as Canada’s premier provider of legal education. 
 
Among her responsibilities, she will plan and execute annual and long-term strategic and integrated fundraising plans, lead a comprehensive major gift development program, serves as a trusted advisor and university-wide resource and liaison to donors and senior administrators, and develop performance indicators for the timely evaluation of program performance and forecasting. She will also support the further expansion of our existing funds and bursaries designed to promote access to legal education to traditionally unrepresented constituencies. 

Miranda began her career in major gift fundraising, notably serving for over five years as Director of Development at The University of Tulsa, where she played a key role in the University’s pivotal $700 million “Embrace the Future” capital campaign. She also served as the president of a Tulsa based technology company, growing the company from start-up to more than $1 million of annual revenue. Miranda obtained her J.D., with academic honors, from The University of Tulsa College of Law, was called to the bar in 2015, and launched her own successful legal practice in 2016.  

As articulated in the Framework, we are eager to advance our culture of philanthropy across all of our communities—students, faculty, staff, and alumni—to reaffirm the importance of building lasting relationships with the former students who received an educational experience like no other at Queen’s Law. 

We are very excited for Miranda to provide stewardship and counsel of this important and ambitious work.
