The 2015 issue of Queen’s Law Reports alumni magazine has hit the stands and it’s loaded with news on grads and the school. It also debuts two novel – and now regular – features.
In our magazine’s first-ever roundtable, moderated by Professor Art Cockfield, Law’93, four grads with different perspectives address whether artificial intelligence will cut or create jobs in the legal profession. The life and work of leading administrative law scholar Professor Emeritus David Mullan, LLM’73, a beloved teacher and the Law Faculty’s newest honorary graduate, is also showcased in our inaugural faculty profile.
The cover story gives all Queen’s Law community members a reason to celebrate. 2015 marked the first year of new awards for alumni as nominated by their peers, and the inaugural winners – Jim Parks, Law’71, Kristin Muszynski Law’05, and Rob Frater, Law’84 – are introduced.
Another highlight is the Alumni Spotlight. What’s it like to practise law for an NHL team? Find out from Emilie Nicholas, Law’09, and Chris Gear, Law’98, in “Leafs vs. Canucks.”
Alumni profiles are also popular features, and this year’s issue focuses on Frank Walwyn, Law’93, a legal powerhouse who has found a niche in Canada and his native Caribbean.
And that’s just some of the impressive news coming from Queen’s Law.
“We’re very happy with how this year’s issue turned out,” says QLR editor Lisa Graham (Com’88, BA’92, MPA’08), “and have already received extremely positive feedback.”
Plans for QLR 2016 are now underway, and there will be even more to celebrate. “There are so many interesting stories to tell about our alumni and school,” says Graham, noting how next year’s issue, coming out in May, will highlight student life in each decade since Queen’s Law was founded in 1957. “Just wait ‘til you see what we have in store as we gear up for our 60th anniversary in 2017.”
