2025 Term Dates
The program will run from May 2 to June 28, 2025. Students will attend orientation and the first three weeks of classes in Kingston. The group will then travel to Bard College in Berlin, Germany, for the final weeks of the program, including a week-long field trip to Paris (IBL), The Hague (PIL) or Bonn (IEL) and Geneva (all streams).
Certificate of Completion
Upon the successful completion of the International Law Program, students receive a “Certificate of Completion” in International Business Law, Public International Law, or International Environmental Law from the Faculty of Law. The top three students in each stream are awarded their certificates "With Merit"
LLM Students
LLM students who enroll in the program will begin their LLM studies in early May, with 3 weeks of study in Kingston and 5 weeks at Bard College in Berlin. They will complete the requirements for the LLM at Queen's in Kingston over the remainder of the summer and in the fall term, with the possibility of completion as early as the end of December.
LLM students can choose the Public International Law or Business International Law stream and must take all courses in the selected stream. Graduate students will be required to pay the International Law Program fee for the first two months of their LLM studies. This fee includes tuition, accommodation and meals in Berlin, and the field trip in Europe (but not airfare). After completing the International Law Program, the monthly cost of tuition and other fees at Queen's in Kingston will be the same as for other graduate students. LLM students who attend the International Law Program are eligible for the same scholarships as other LLM students, and in addition will be eligible to apply for bursaries, awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need, to assist with the program fee.
Students who wish to attend the International Law Program as part of their LLM studies must submit their application for admission to the LLM program by November 15, indicating clearly a wish to be considered for the International Law Program. Space is limited and admission is on the basis of academic merit. LLM students apply to the International Law Program through the Graduate Program. Please contact Kate Black, Graduate Program Coordinator, for more information and application procedures.
