Queen's prof featured in documentary that shines spotlight on secrets

Secret Trial 5 is being shown at The Screening Room this Sunday and Professor Sharry Aiken has a significant role in the film, discussing the human impact of the war on terror. The film examines the Canadian government’s use of security certificates, an immigration tool that allows the government to deport non-citizens it deems a threat to national security.

Queen’s conference to examine tax justice for women at critical time

On March 6 and 7, Feminist Legal Studies Queen’s (FLSQ) will host the conference “Women and Tax Justice at Beijing+20: Taxing and Budgeting for Sex Equality.” The event will bring to campus scholars and legal practitioners from across Canada and around the world to discuss and tax and spending laws that are undermining sex equality and how to ensure governments change these laws.

Students raise $2K with charity performance

This year’s entertainers showed their musical chops on Feb. 11 at the annual Lawlapalooza. Meagan Berlin, Law’16, has been acclaimed as the Law Students’ Society President for 2015-16. Over the past two years, she has been involved with the school in multiple roles, including production manager of the student newspaper Juris Diction, selection committee member for the LSS and university Tricolour awards, and student ambassador. Having immersed herself in various aspects of the Queen’s Law student community, she feels she is ready to lead it.
